Praise God for His faithfulness! Since we first launched the Education project in Zimbabwe in February this year, the situation has moved on apace which has brought us many challenge and many encouragements as we have seen the hand of God mightily at work.
In late March, the headmaster of the existing school at our centre departed leaving the children and the teachers and the school in dire straits. Revd Jonah Masaka had to move quickly to ensure the continuity of the education of the students. He was requested by the parents to keep the school running and was advised by the Education Department to register the school in the name of the Centre. This entailed a lot of work and expense but he managed to do just this and the school reopened under new management with an initial enrolment of 75 students just days later.
Over the Easter period, the previous headmaster wanted to take the old building down for his future use which we allowed him to do in the spirit of Easter despite him owing money which he has pledged to repay. This means that the need to get the new building erected is even more urgent as there are now very limited buildings for the school to meet in.
The good news is the contractor has moved in, the foundations have been pegged and dug and building is beginning. The other wonderful news is that thus far, we have raised 60% of the original estimate of £20,000 for the building. This is a wonderful achievement and we press on to trust God to provide for the other 40+%, given that prices have risen since the original estimate.
If you feel God calling you to invest in this exciting venture where we will make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of young people and families in Zimbabwe, we would love to hear form you. Any among, large or small, will be a great encouragement as we wait to see God fulfil his plans and purposes.
